My Consultation today was my first with Doctor Target and I was struck by his coming out to greet me at his surgery door, he introduced himself and offered me a seat. He asked me why I was there and did not interupt while I was attempting to explain the problem connected to previous treatment within the surgery re pre diabetes and the medication, my recent Pre Op Consultation and prep for a possible Op and all the confusing paperwork that went with it all. Doctor Targett looked at my lack of understanding worry and confusion and broke it down into understandable sections including my worry of one drug against another the outcome being I have accepted further meds for my pre diabetees and pain control for my knee pain/problem, he messaged the person in control of my pre diabetees situation, wrote an electronic prescription and ordered a clinic for steroid jabs. I mentioned my Veterans status which he is totally supportive of as a GP and to.myself the patient I spoke of in a good manner of a fellow doctor and he said I could ask to see any GP if I so wanted but I pointed out as long as I see one I am very happy. I left the consultation in a better frame of mind about what I termed as my triangle problem.

It was necessary to take mum to see a doctor for the third time in as many months as she was suffering yet another wheezy chest and cough. Rather than just sending mum away with yet another course of pills, he prescribed a different treatment plan and for some test to determine the cause of her repeated chest infections. Dr Targett spoke very clearly to mum, who is hard of hearing, she had no issues with hearing or understanding him. I really appreciated his different approach to her treatment going forward and the fact that she was not just sent away with just more pills. Very much liked Dr Targett's 'bedside' manner!!

I found Doctor Targett to be very approachable and treated (no pun intended) me as a person rather than as a collection of signs/symptoms, so great interpersonal skills. Doctor Targett explained to me where I was in terms of previous and present medications for my long term condition and he recommended alterations, checking my consent to these several times. During the consultation I felt able to ask questions and explain history/context as appropriate without feeling rushed or pressured. I left the surgery feeling confident that my medical welfare was in good hands.
